Brett Favre to Indianapolis Colts?

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

While it is not likely that Brett Favre will be headed to Indianapolis, wouldn’t he make good “insurance” just in case Peyton Manning isn’t back at it in 4-6 weeks?  Remember, Marvin Harrison missed the majority of last season with a bursa problem that initially wasn’t supposed to be that bad.  That’s a thought…

Colts trade Luke Lawton to Eagles

Friday, June 6th, 2008

“The Indianapolis Colts have traded fullback Luke Lawton to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional 2009 draft choice.” [via Indy Star]

The roster moves have begun.  I’d say that this move is probably a decent one for the “down the road” building up of the team (depending upon who they get).  Nothing agaist Luke Lawton, but with the current uncut roster we’re going to see more of this and if we can snag a few extra draft picks out of it instead of potentially cutting players, I say go for it.

Indianapolis Colts 2008 Draft Picks

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008
RD SEL NAME - School HT WT POS
2 59 Mike Pollak- Arizona St 6′4″ 299 G
3 93 Philip Wheeler - Ga Tech 6′2″ 245 LB
4 127 Jacob Tamme Kentucky 6′4″ 232 TE
5 161 Marcus Howard- Georgia 6′1″ 237 DE
6 196 Tom Santi- Virginia 6′4″ 248 TE
6 201 Steven Justice - Wake Forest 6′4″ 285 C
6 202 Mike Hart - Michigan 5′9″ 195 RB
6 205 Pierre Garcon - Mount Union 6′0″ 210 WR
7 236 Jamey Richard- Buffalo 6′5″ 295 C

While I think that the Indianapolis Colts made decent picks overall, it does surprise me that their picks were so offensively weighted. But as tradition goes, the Colts tend to go after the best players still available…plus they’re still developing a handful of defensive draft picks from previous years that will probably see more playing time this year.  And they picked up 13 undrafted players as well, so maybe there are some gems in that bunch.

The offensive line needed attention and they clearly addressed that.

And there’s the need to beef up the scoring threats as well since the current crew is getting older and the fact that we lost Ben Utech. And dare I mention Kenton Keith being a complete knucklehead recently.

Bart Peterson Becomes a Patriots Fan?

Friday, January 18th, 2008

You lose the Indianapolis mayoral election in November, the Indianapolis Colts lose in their home playoff game, then you (temporarily) move to Boston and jump on the New England Patriots bandwagon. OK, maybe that’s a little “out there” on the later part, but I do find it odd that even a former Mayor of Indy can’t find a decent job in the area. I don’t even need to comment further on that as it truly speaks for itself. And frankly, I can’t blame him for jumping on the opportunity…or on the Boston Celtics bandwagon (the Indiana Pacers off-court actions of recent years are enough of a reason for anyone to disassociate with the city).

Indianapolis Colts Cut Simeon Rice

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Two weeks ago I was excited to see what Simeon Rice could bring to the Indianapolis Colts’ defense after Dwight Freeney was lost for the season, but that went nowhere fast and Rice was cut from the team today.  Not a huge deal I suppose, as our defense is doing pretty well for being so “bad” as the “experts” say.
