Jim Sorgi Heads to the New York Giants

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

If you haven’t hard, the Indianapolis Colts cut backup quarterback Jim Sorgi a few days ago.  There’s really no surprise there since they kept Curtis Painter on the roster last season, Sorgi ended the season on the “IR” and he would be due a hefty veteran pay check for sitting on the bench.  And let’s be honest, if Peyton Manning gets hurt there’s no one who can step in and fill those shoes.

But the time in free agent land didn’t last long as the New York Giants quickly picked up Sorgi to be the backup to Peyton’s brother, Eli Manning.  Given history, Sorgi probably has a little better of a chance of getting in the game with the Giants, but let’s hope that doesn’t happen, as we need to see another Manning vs. Manning Throw-down this coming season!

Best of luck to Jim Sorgi though. I’ve always admired the man &have been a little bit jealous that he gets to hang out with Peyton Manning & gets paid the big bucks to do so. Not to mention, he’ll be in much better physical shape in retirement than many ex-NFL players are.

No One Wants A Colts Thong?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Last weekend I was watching Tim “Tree Boy” Bush report live from The Colts Pro Shop at Lucas Oil Stadium and he carefully ignored the fact the there were Indianapolis Colts thongs hanging on the wall (quite visible in HD though).  But Mary Milz decided to go right for it tonight.

Scroll over to 2 minutes in to watch Mary Milz try to sell the last Indianapolis Colts thong at The Colts Pro Shop at Lucas Oil Stadium.

At least later in the newscast the anchors voted against Bob Kravitz wearing a Speedo next week from Miami.

Indianapolis Colts 2009 Draft Picks

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
RD SEL NAME – School HT WT POS
1 27 Donald Brown – Connecticut 5’10″ 210 RB
2 56 Fili Moala – Southern Cal 6’4″ 305 DT
3 92 Jerraud Powers – Auburn 5’9″ 188 CB
4 127 Austin Collie – BYU 6’1″ 200 WR
4 136 Terrance Taylor – Michigan 6’0″ 306 DT
6 201 Curtis Painter – Purdue 6’3″ 225 QB
7 222 Pat McAfee – West Virginia 6’0″ 228 P
7 236 Jaimie Thomas – Maryland 6’4″ 323 OT

Overall I don’t have any complaints with this years’ draft class, but do find it a bit silly to thrown away a 4th round draft pick (Taylor was cut).  Everyone else was signed, with Thomas being added to the practice squad.

Adding a running back was not a bad idea and there’s no doubt that we need another receiver. And any addition on defense should be a good one.

I’ve got to wonder if the addition of Painter (which I love since he’s a Boiler) is more of a future back-up move as Jim Sorgi is getting to the point of being a pretty expensive “bench warmer”.

Still and Video Cameras at Colts Games

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Every year I check the Indianapolis Colts website just to make sure still cameras are allowed.  With the NFL’s ever changing policies you just never know.  As of today, the answer is still yes.  I can’t recall a time when video cameras were allowed by the NFL (unless of course you’re the New England Patriots and can tape whatever you want), but who’d want to do that anyway…record the game at home on your DVR if you *really* want to watch it again.

Can I bring a camera or video camera into Lucas Oil Stadium?
Still cameras are permitted during Colts games. Due to NFL policies, video cameras are not permitted inside Lucas Oil Stadium for Colts games.

The Colts-Chargers “Officiating”

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

I am not one to quickly point the finger at horrible officiating, but the NFL sure as hell better investigate the officials in the Colts-Chargers “game” (this was the crew with the most penalties in the league nonetheless). Seriously, I’d bet Tim Donaghy is friends with these guys.

Here’s what I sent to the NFL, and I’m not expecting a response:

How do you guys explain the horrible officiating in the Colts-Chargers game? Not to mention an 8-8 team have a home game? Is there such a thing as intentional grounding anymore? And what about holding and face masking against more than one team? No freaking way would I pay for the NFL Network…what a freakin’ joke. Thank God there are still college games left.

Yes, the Colts were getting ran all over and the Chargers kicker was kicking just plain crazy, but it’s hard to think the penalities (and lack of) didn’t effect the outcome.  And officials should have no bearing on any game.  If you’re going to call penalitlies, do it fairly across the board and not based on jersey color. Man, I hope these guys are not doing the Super Bowl game.

I’m done ranting for now.

Brett Favre to Indianapolis Colts?

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

While it is not likely that Brett Favre will be headed to Indianapolis, wouldn’t he make good “insurance” just in case Peyton Manning isn’t back at it in 4-6 weeks?  Remember, Marvin Harrison missed the majority of last season with a bursa problem that initially wasn’t supposed to be that bad.  That’s a thought…
