951 AM EDT Tue Mar 31 2009..Unusual Clouds Moving Through Central Indiana…
If you look into the sky this morning you may see some unusual clouds through. These pumpy looking clouds are called Mammatus.
What is so unusual with this situation is that Mammatus is usually associated with thunderstorms. Only very light showers are moving through.
So I’m out this morning and this “important” message comes through via the National Weather Service. At first glance I’m thinking to myself, “Do we have something to worry about?” Then upon a second reading it was clear…someone at the National Weather Service was way too excited to see this unusual phenomenon.
Well, at least they’re really into their job which is more than I can say for a lot of people. Keep enjoying it whoever you are and feel free to spread the excitement. Count me in for the Mammatus party anytime!
