Britain’s High Court ordered record company EMI to stop selling downloads of Pink Floyd tracks individually rather than as part of the band’s original albums.

Pink Floyd said its contract prohibited selling the tracks “unbundled” from their original records. Judge Andrew Morritt backed the band Thursday, saying the contract protected “the artistic integrity of the albums.”

Score one for the concept album!

These are always the same, normally someone sitting in India using a Gmail account, not disclosing their website and claiming to be named “Bob”, “Anna” or any other American sounding name.  (On occasion it’s some bored college kid, trying to not get a real job, which I can respect, but I still am not going for it.)

Without going into all of that, I’ve came up with my own canned response that just as full of crap:

All joking aside, if you’re really interested in hiring someone for SEO, here’s one main fact that you need to know:

No one can guarantee you the #1 spot in any search engine.

Now with enough money, you can purchase the top spot for an ad for a specific keyword in the search engines, but that’s a different animal which has absolutely nothing to do with the SEO company/individual. Money talks & why pay someone else to spend your money for you?

Anyway, if you want to talk general “SEO” practices, I’ll leave that for Watershed Studio.  And before you ask, no, SEO isn’t an official service that we provide, mainly as a business choice due to the nonsense mentioned above.

Via the AP, Lohan has filed a $100 million lawsuit against E-Trade for their “milkaholic Lindsay”commercial. Her “lawyer” is claiming that even though the commercial didn’t use her full name, that the single name “Lindsay” is as recognizable as Oprah or Madonna.

Good luck with that. But if somehow she wins this, or settles out of court, and if I were a “Lindsay”, I’m thinking that I’d launch a lawsuit of my own for her infringing on my name.

But the time in free agent land didn’t last long as the New York Giants quickly picked up Sorgi to be the backup to Peyton’s brother, Eli Manning.  Given history, Sorgi probably has a little better of a chance of getting in the game with the Giants, but let’s hope that doesn’t happen, as we need to see another Manning vs. Manning Throw-down this coming season!

Best of luck to Jim Sorgi though. I’ve always admired the man &have been a little bit jealous that he gets to hang out with Peyton Manning & gets paid the big bucks to do so. Not to mention, he’ll be in much better physical shape in retirement than many ex-NFL players are.

A Rhode Island school board has voted to clean house at Central Falls High School by firing the entire staff of 93, including all teachers, guidance counselors, p.e. instructors and the principal.

Education is one topic that gets me fired up, and this one takes the cake recently.  And honestly, I’ll be shocked if this improves anything and would venture to guess that things will actually get worse.

Some things to think about:

1. What about the parents/guardians? I have seen first hand that some kids just don’t care about school if they don’t have a good at home support system in place.
2. What about the kids?  While not ideal, maybe the kids are indeed below “average”. Not everyone can be in the top of the class.
3. What about the government? I don’t even have the time to properly touch that one other than to say they clearly don’t think things through a lot of the time.
4. What teachers looking for a job would be eager to jump on board after they just threw everyone else under the bus?  Given the economy I’m sure they’ll find teachers, but I can’t imagine that they’ll have the school or the kids in mind for more than a stepping stone onto a better job.

That said, yes, it could be the teachers too, but I can’t believe that it’s all of them. This just seems totally irresponsible to me.

A senior Democratic official said Sen. Evan Bayh, a centrist Democrat from a Republican-leaning state, is ready to announce he will not seek re-election.

The 54-year-old was ready to appear at a news conference in his home state of Indiana to reveal his plans. His departure continues a trend in which several senators and members of the House from both parties have decided to retire. Polls have shown rising public dissatisfaction with both parties and with Congress in the face of continuing high unemployment, mounting deficits and lucrative bank executive bonuses.

This is sort of a surprising move, but I’ve gotten the feeling recently that the tides may be changing here in Indiana.  However I would be quite surprised if you didn’t see Bayh back in the political arena down the road.

Men’s Olympic luger Nodar Kumaritashvili lost control of his sled during a test run and struck an unpadded steel pole near the finish line at Whistler Sliding Center. Kumaritashvili, of the former Soviet republic of Georgia, died of his injuries, according to an Olympic official with direct knowledge of crash, the Associated Press reported.

The reports are that this is one of the fastest tracks ever and there have been vocal concerns over not allowing International teams enough time to get familiar with the track for luge, skeleton & bobsledding.

UPDATE: After seeing the video of Nodar Kumaritashvili’s accident over & over again, this is pretty disturbing. They’re blaming rider error, but in my opinion you must do everything possible to protect the safety of both the athletes and the spectators.  What are your thoughts? Nodar Kumaritashvili, the 21-year-old Georgian luger who died in a training accident hours before the opening of the Vancouver Winter Olympics told his father he was terrified of the track before doing the run that killed him.

“He called me before the Olympics, three days ago, and he said, ‘Dad, I’m scared of one of the turns,’ ” David Kumaritashvili said in an interview at his house in the small mountain town of Bakuriani Sunday.
