Red Lobster Shrimp Fest 2009

Eating shrimp #115
Tonight was the night for our 6th annual Shrimp Fest at Red Lobster during their all-you-can-eat shrimp offering. This year it was Kurt, Jennifer, Jeff and I joining in the fun.
Here are the rules:
- You must eat a biscuit
- You must eat your salad (sans “veggies”)
- You must eat your side (mashed potatoes in my case)
- You can only eat “normal” sized shrimp (tail on, no popcorn or minis)

I’ve been undefeated for five years running (I’m not sure if that’s something to be proud of) and my previous record was 102 shrimp last year. This year I was aiming for 135 since that was the previous record of the season, but that didn’t happen due to time.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Jeff: 59 shrimp
- Kurt: 78 shrimp
- Jennifer: 88* shrimp
- Brian: 115 shrimp
Jeff didn’t do too bad for his second trip. Kurt actually dropped down a few, but still had a decent outing. Jennifer cheated as always (thus the *), by counting her popcorn/mini shrimp. And I raised my personal best by 13 shrimp over last year. All together we ate 340 shrimp, or an average of 85 shrimp each.
This year they added teriyaki grilled shrimp, which were awesome, but of course salty as all teriyaki is. My selections consisted of the teriyaki grilled, garlic grilled (not on the menu), Cajun grilled, fried & of course my staple of shrimp scampi.
We were there for over two and a half hours, which is a record too I believe. But our waitress, Erin, was very accommodating and kept the shrimp rolling and was getting a kick out of it. Unfortunately hitting 135, the current record this season, just wasn’t possible.
Finally, I’d like to give a shout out to the Blue Shotgun Twitter followers and all of our Facebook friends for following along and making this even more fun.
